Imprivata has announced that its Confirm ID prescription solution is now compatible with the Google Chrome browser. The news will make Confirm ID more accessible for users of MEDITECH EHR software, thereby making it easier to comply with DEA requirements for the electronic prescribing for controlled substances (EPCS).
“EPCS has significant benefits for addressing the opioid abuse epidemic, improving workflow efficiency, and increasing patient safety and satisfaction,” said Imprivata Product Management SVP Barbara Dumery. “It’s essential that we make the workflow as easy as possible to drive adoption by providers.”
Confirm ID is an EPCS platform that creates a secure (and auditable) record of the prescription process for controlled substances. It also offers fingerprint authentication for added security.
Many state governments and pharmacies have responded to the opioid epidemic with EPCS requirements, as has the federal government, which passed legislation that will take effect in 2021. With support for Google Chrome, Imprivata Confirm ID will make it easier for doctors and pharmacists to comply with those incoming regulations and ensure that prescription drugs make it into the hands of the intended recipients.
Imprivata upgraded Confirm ID with DigiCert’s document verification technology back in December. More recently, the company teamed up with Verato to offer a biometric patient identification platform.
