iFalcon Face Control Mobile Makes Biometric Facial Recognition Wearable

Vuzix has partnered with the Dubai-based software developer NNTC to create a wearable facial recognition platform designed for security purposes. The solution is called iFalcon Face Control Mobile, and it combines the Vuzix Blade Smart Glasses with NNTC’s autonomous AI facial recognition system.

With the new solution, security guards (and anyone else carrying out perimeter access security) will wear the Vuzix Blade, which comes equipped with a camera embedded in the glasses. The information picked up by that camera will then be transferred to a portable computer through a wireless connection, at which point it is measured against a local database of up to 1 million unique faces to search for a possible match.

iFalcon Face Control does not require a cloud connection and can detect as many as 15 faces in a video frame in less than a second. If it finds a match, it can send an alert back to the person wearing the Vuzix Blade to help them keep tabs on suspicious individuals.

The joint platform is being billed as a portable, convenient, and unobtrusive monitoring tool for law enforcement and venue security dealing with large crowds. For Vuzix, it’s the second security partnership in the past month, and arrives shortly after the Blade was integrated into SWORD’s AR security app. Other companies have also been pursuing glasses with facial recognition technology for surveillance purposes.
