IDnow Trust Services AB, a joint venture between identity verification provider IDnow and system integrator ESYSCO, has received certification as a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP) under EU Regulation 910/2014 (eIDAS). The certification was granted by Sweden’s supervisory authority Post-och telestyrelsen (PTS) on November 5, 2024.
The certification enables IDnow Trust Services AB to issue qualified electronic signatures, timestamps, and seals that are legally recognized across the European Union. According to EU regulations, these qualified trust services provide the highest level of security and legal validity for digital transactions. A key innovation in their service offering is SMS-free signing, which streamlines the authentication process by eliminating the need for one-time password codes. The company confirms this capability has been thoroughly validated under current CEN and ETSI technical standards for qualified electronic signatures.
This QTSP certification arrives at a crucial time as the European Union advances toward broader implementation of digital identity wallets under the eIDAS 2.0 framework. The timing is particularly significant as a recent World Bank policy note has identified electronic signatures as essential infrastructure for digital economies.
Johannes Leser, CEO of IDnow Trust Services AB, emphasized the broader implications of this development. “Trust and liability form the foundation of business transactions, and they will drive the global digital economy,” he said. “Our certification enables us to provide qualified trust services that combine security compliance with user convenience.”
Adding to this perspective, IDnow CEO Andreas Bodczek highlighted how the certification advances the company’s strategic goals: “The synergy between identity verification and qualified trust services will help ensure compliant and efficient processing of business-critical operations across the EU.”
