IDEX Biometrics Wins Sentry Enterprises Sensor Order for Combined Access Card

Fingerprint sensor integrated into a payment card with glowing biometric icon

IDEX Biometrics has received a fingerprint sensor order from Sentry Enterprises to support a US rollout of a card that combines digital and physical access in a single biometric credential. The purchase order, valued at about 0.7 million Norwegian kroner, covers sensors for a deployment that pairs logical access, such as logging into systems, with physical access to buildings and secure areas on one fingerprint-enabled card.

The order is for IDEX’s fingerprint sensor technology, which embeds a biometric sensor into a card so the cardholder’s fingerprint is matched on the card itself rather than against an external database. That on-card matching model is the basis for both the biometric payment cards IDEX is known for and the access-control cards that are a growing part of its business. In the Sentry deployment, the same approach is applied to a credential that a worker uses both to authenticate to digital systems and to enter physical spaces.

The order comes as IDEX Biometrics changes its leadership structure. Anders Storbråten has moved from Chief Executive Officer to Executive Chairman of the Board, while Kjell-Arne Besseberg has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and interim Chief Financial Officer. Besseberg joined IDEX as Chief Operating Officer in June 2025 and has worked on the company’s supply chain, commercial operations, and customer agreements as it shifts from restructuring and product launch work toward commercial scaling.

The Sentry order extends IDEX’s move beyond payment cards into access control. The company has previously signed a commercial sensor agreement with ID Centric for high-security corporate access and digital payment cards, and has secured payment-network certifications and sensor orders from large identity vendors. The combined digital-and-physical access use case represents the convergence of two markets the company has been targeting, served by the same fingerprint-on-card hardware.

In enterprise access control, a fingerprint-enabled card binds the credential to the rightful holder, so a lost or stolen card cannot be used without the matching fingerprint, and removes the need for a separate PIN or token. Sentry Enterprises is deploying the combined card in the US market, with IDEX supplying the biometric sensors.

The purchase order is a commercial supply arrangement tied to the rollout.
