Fingerprint identification technology specialist IDEX Biometrics has announced the addition of Catharina Eklof to its team as she was named the company’s newest Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).
Eklof brings with her a wealth of global executive management experience, with 20 years in the financial services, retail, travel, and security sectors, including a number of Fortune 500 companies, and 12 years working out of Mastercard’s London, Brussels, and New York offices.
While at Mastercard, Eklof — who holds an MBA in International Business and a Master of Science in Economics from the University of Uppsala, Sweden — played a vital role helping to establish the payment giant’s global strategic merchant program, which focused on bringing digital payment solutions and new, data-driven business models to organizations around the world.
More recently, she served as the CCO of Stockholm-based cyber security company Defentry AB, and has served on the Board of Directors of the largest securities brokerage in Sweden, Avanza Bank.
“I am very excited to welcome Catharina to our leadership team,” said Vince Graziani, Chief Executive Officer of IDEX Biometrics. “Her considerable experience and expertise in security and card-based payment technologies will be extremely valuable to IDEX Biometrics as we continue to accelerate commercialization of our leading card-based authentication solutions.”
The addition of Eklof, which will take effect on June 1st, comes just a few days after IDEX announced another addition to its team, with the appointment of financial services industry veteran Annika Olsson as the newest member of its Board of Directors.
IDEX is in the midst of preparing for growth opportunities in the emerging biometric payment cards market. In March of this year IDEX announced that the TrustedBio fingerprint sensor it developed for use with biometric cards had moved into the mass production phase.
