Identity Wallets Drive Major Conversion Gains, Says Authologic Co-Founder

Identity wallets are dramatically improving user onboarding and conversion rates in countries where they’ve been widely adopted, according to Authologic co-founder Jarek Sygitowicz.

Speaking on the latest episode of the ID Talk podcast, Sygitowicz cited Belgium as a prime example, where companies switching from biometric KYC methods to identity wallets have seen conversion rates jump by 40 to 60 percent. He attributed the gains to the speed and simplicity of wallet-based onboarding, which allows users to scan a QR code, approve a data request, and complete verification in a matter of seconds.

“With identity wallets, it’s like 20 seconds. You scan the QR code, approve transfer of your data, and come back,” he said.

Sygitowicz also pointed to surging usage of digital ID in Poland, where the national identity wallet is now being used over a million times per day. That uptake, he noted, demonstrates the potential of government-issued digital IDs when they are easy to access and broadly accepted across sectors.

Authologic, a startup backed by Y Combinator and European venture capital firms, positions itself as an aggregator of eID, bank ID, and identity wallet systems via a single API. Sygitowicz described the company’s offering as a “Stripe for KYC,” aiming to simplify compliance for businesses operating across multiple jurisdictions.

The conversation also touched on evolving attitudes toward privacy, the promise of zero-knowledge proofs, and how self-sovereign identity models could help address political resistance to digital ID.
