iDenfy has introduced direct integration with the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators’ Driver’s License Data Verification system, allowing customer-submitted ID card information to be checked directly against issuing state DMV records. The integration is designed to address the growing challenge of high-quality forgeries, where criminals produce physical or digital driver’s licenses that pass visual inspection and defeat standard AI-driven KYC checks. Traditional video-based verification can analyze image quality issues such as incorrect fonts or holograms, but it cannot determine whether the underlying biographic data actually exists in a government database. Fraudsters can therefore present convincing cloned cards or build synthetic identities around personal information that does not correspond to a valid license.
The new integration connects iDenfy’s document capture workflow to the AAMVA DLDV network, which underpins interstate driver licensing across the United States and supports the broader mobile ID and digital driver’s license ecosystem that ID Tech has been following in coverage of AAMVA’s Digital Trust Service and federal mandates for mobile ID acceptance. When a user scans their license, iDenfy’s OCR extracts key data fields and sends them to the AAMVA gateway, which returns a match, no match, or partial match response in real time. The system compares core identifiers including license number, date of birth, expiration date, and name across the states that participate in the program. This direct link to authoritative DMV records provides far stronger assurance than visual inspection alone.
iDenfy positions the capability as particularly important for sectors such as rideshare onboarding, vehicle rental and car sharing, age-restricted commerce, and other high-risk workflows in which visually valid IDs may still be associated with suspended licenses, synthetic identities, or expertly forged documents. The company has been steadily expanding its KYC footprint, as seen in partnerships with Ponte Finance and other financial and crypto platforms, as well as new electronic identity verification tools that cross-check data against United States databases. Integrating AAMVA verification extends that strategy by tying iDenfy’s front-end document capture to a trusted back-end reference source, tightening controls in a fraud environment where generative tools and sophisticated printing make forged IDs harder to spot.
