IDEMIA Public Security has expanded its collaboration with Microsoft by joining the launch cohort for Entra Verified ID, the company’s platform for issuing and validating portable digital credentials. The announcement, made alongside Microsoft Ignite, follows earlier joint work integrating IDEMIA’s document and biometric verification tools into Microsoft’s credentialing ecosystem.
Entra Verified ID provides a framework for organizations to issue verifiable credentials that can be used across applications and services. IDEMIA’s contribution centers on identity proofing at the point of credential issuance, combining document authentication, face matching, and liveness checks to establish a high-assurance link between a user and their digital credential.
The partnership is aimed at enterprise scenarios with elevated risk, such as employee onboarding, account recovery, and support workflows, where organizations seek alternatives to knowledge-based verification and other low-assurance methods. IDEMIA says the arrangement reflects growing demand for consistent and reusable identity assurance across cloud environments rather than fragmented, application-specific checks.
For Microsoft, the integration adds a higher-trust proofing option to the Entra family as enterprises confront threats involving deepfakes, social engineering, and increasingly automated attack techniques. By aligning verification signals with Entra’s credentialing and access-control ecosystem, both companies position the collaboration as a step toward more secure and portable enterprise identity.
