ID R&D, a Mitek Systems company, has earned perfect accuracy scores in a recent U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) evaluation of remote identity validation systems. The company’s technology successfully detected all fraudulent attempts while maintaining high processing speeds.
The company’s IDLive Face technology, tested under the code name “PAD-P9,” was one of just two passive systems among 21 solutions to achieve 100 percent fraud prevention. The testing was conducted through the DHS Science and Technology Directorate’s (S&T) testing program, which evaluates identity verification technologies.
The results are especially relevant given growing government adoption of facial recognition technology, including TSA’s exploration of biometric security solutions. ID R&D’s system recorded zero Attack Presentation Classification Error Rate (APCER) while processing transactions up to 40 times faster than active liveness systems.
“This evaluation validates what we’ve always believed—that strong fraud protection doesn’t have to come at the expense of a seamless user experience,” said Alexey Khitrov, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at Mitek. Khitrov, who has been advancing the company’s biometric security innovations, emphasized the importance of balancing security with user convenience.
These results follow ID R&D’s strong performance in NIST’s passive presentation attack detection evaluation last year. The technology has continued to advance since receiving iBeta Level 2 certification in 2020.
The achievement coincides with key developments at parent company Mitek Systems, which recently introduced new AI-powered fraud prevention solutions and named Edward H. West as CEO. The company has also expanded its leadership by appointing Peter Martis as Vice President of Growth.
IDLive Face is now embedded in Mitek’s identity verification solutions and serves over 150 partners across more than 70 countries. The team is aiming to make its technology stand out for its unbiased performance across age, race, and gender demographics – a critical factor in the biometrics industry.
