ID.me, Verisys Launch Integrated Provider Identity and Credentialing Solution for State Medicaid Agencies

ID.me and Verisys have announced a strategic partnership to deliver an end-to-end provider identity verification and credentialing solution to state Medicaid agencies. The collaboration is a direct response to a formal directive issued April 23, 2026, by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, requesting that all 50 state Medicaid agencies submit provider revalidation plans within 30 days, with priority attention to high-risk providers in home health, behavioral health, and controlled-substance prescribing.

The integrated solution combines two distinct compliance layers. ID.me contributes NIST 800-63-3 IAL2-compliant identity proofing, verifying that a provider is a real person who matches their government-issued identity, along with AAL2-compliant authentication and a reusable digital credentialing wallet designed to eliminate ghost providers and synthetic identities at enrollment. Verisys adds real-time license validation, sanctions and exclusions screening, DEA controlled-substance authorization, National Provider Identifier validation, and ongoing monitoring across all 50 states and U.S. territories.

The CMS revalidation directive targets fraud, waste, and abuse within the approximately $900 billion annual Medicaid program, requiring states to confirm that every enrolled provider is who they claim to be, holds valid licensure, and is not subject to federal or state exclusions. The partnership is positioned as a solution states can deploy immediately without building custom integrations. Wes Turbeville, Senior Vice President of Federal and Healthcare at ID.me, said the partnership gives states “an integrated front door for provider revalidation and credentialing that is compliant on day one.” Amy Anderson, President of Verisys, said the combined platform gives healthcare organizations “the confidence to act decisively.”

The announcement deepens ID.me’s presence at CMS, which the company entered through ID.me’s CMS Medicare.gov contract awarded in December 2025 to provide sign-in and identity verification for the federal Medicare portal. ID.me’s identity proofing infrastructure had already been activated on the beneficiary side of CMS systems by March 2026, when biometric login at Medicare.gov was enabled alongside Login.gov and CLEAR as authentication options.

ID.me serves nearly 170 million users across 22 federal agencies and 50 state agencies. Verisys provides provider data monitoring and credentialing compliance services across payers, health systems, state agencies, and managed care organizations. The Medicaid provider partnership is consistent with ID.me’s healthcare identity expansion, which accelerated in late 2025 through a partnership with Flexpa to secure access to medical records using ID.me’s reusable digital credential.
