iBeta Publishes Table of Approved Liveness Detection Solutions

iBeta Quality Assurance is trying to make it easier for companies to evaluate different biometric solutions. To that end, iBeta has put together a table of solutions that have passed its NIST-accredited ISO/IEC 30107-3 Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) testing program since 2018.

According to iBeta, the new table is noteworthy because it provides more context than a simple pass/fail grade. More specifically, the table will tell readers exactly what version of the software was tested, and when that software was issued its letter of conformance. As a result, companies interested in purchasing a biometric solution can use the table as a reference point to make sure that the software that cleared the iBeta program is in fact the software that they are being sold, and that that software is up to date with the latest standards.

The table is not comprehensive, since some of the companies that have received iBeta certification have opted not to publish their conformance letters. However, it does include more details about the false non-match rate and the bona fide presentation classification error rate for each solution listed. iBeta stressed that certification and compliance only covers the software version mentioned in the table, and warned that any other versions (even newer versions) have not been tested, and therefore may not be compliant with the program.

The Presentation Attack Detection test is a measure of a solution’s liveness detection capabilities. Acuant, Aware, FaceTec, Innovatrics, and ID R&D are some of the many facial recognition developers whose products have received 30107-3 certification in the past few years.
