Hopae has announced that its eID orchestration platform, Hopae Connect, has received official OpenID Connect (OIDC) certification, a critical step that validates its technical interoperability and alignment with global digital identity standards. The certification from the OpenID Foundation confirms that Hopae’s platform can securely and reliably facilitate interactions between identity providers, service providers (relying parties), and end-users holding digital credentials.
For Hopae, which positions itself as a neutral intermediary in the complex digital identity ecosystem, OIDC certification is a foundational requirement. It provides assurance to partners and customers that its platform adheres to the well-established protocols for secure authentication and identity data exchange.
This milestone is particularly timely as the industry prepares for the launch of the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW). Hopae has stated that the certification is a key part of its strategy to become a leading intermediary platform for the EUDIW, ensuring its systems are fully compliant with the EU’s Architecture and Reference Framework (ARF).
Further demonstrating its commitment to open standards, Hopae is set to lead several sessions at this week’s Internet Identity Workshop (IIW). The company will present its work on South Korea’s K-ARF digital identity framework, designed for cross-border interoperability, and discuss advanced privacy-preserving techniques that combine selective disclosure using SD-JWTs with zero-knowledge proofs. This OIDC certification, coupled with its active role in the standards community, solidifies Hopae’s position as a key player in building the interoperable infrastructure needed for the next generation of digital identity. The company is part of a flourishing digital ID ecosystem that includes numerous collaborative initiatives.
