French mobile biometrics pioneer GripID has introduced a new generation of ultra-compact, multimodal identity devices for law enforcement, border control, and civil registration applications. Unveiled ahead of the Milipol Paris 2025 security exposition, the new lineup adds significant capabilities, including iris and facial recognition.
Leading the release is the new GripID MANNIX, a rugged, portable workstation that pairs an FBI-certified FAP60 full-palm sensor with high-accuracy iris and facial capture. This multimodal platform, as CEO Eric Fouchard describes it, targets high-stakes applications like visa enrollment and border control, transforming any connected smartphone or computer (iOS, Android, or Windows) into a full biometric workstation.
The company, which partners with Integrated Biometrics for its sensors, also revealed two other upgraded devices:
GripID FAP30-IB CR: Building on its reputation as the world’s smallest FAP30 device, this new version integrates a smartcard reader, enabling officers in the field to perform instant identity verification by combining FBI-certified fingerprint capture with secure eID card authentication.
GripID FAP45-IB: This compact device brings dual-finger (FAP45) authentication in a lightweight, portable format. It is engineered specifically for forensic matching, fast enrollment, and deceased person identification, delivering FBI-certified image quality wirelessly.
The devices demonstrate a clear industry trend toward consolidating more biometric modalities into single, rugged, and highly portable devices for field-based identity verification.
