Greece has rolled out an update to its Gov.gr Wallet digital identity app that adds revocation alerts for stored credentials, automatic one-time password entry, and real-time status updates for the DYPA unemployment card, according to OT.gr. The changes target security, usability, and real-time information for citizens relying on the wallet for public services.
Revocation alerts are designed to notify users immediately if a digital driving license or digital identity card stored in the wallet is revoked by authorities or declared lost. The app shows which document was withdrawn and whether it can be re-added, giving users a clear view of credential status without needing to visit separate portals.
The update also adds OTP auto-fill, which the report said will automatically enter the six-digit SMS code for document additions when the user provides consent. The goal is to reduce errors and speed up the process of adding or re-adding credentials to the wallet.
For employment-related services, the DYPA Digital Card now updates in real time inside the app and displays a color indicator that shows the user’s current status. This turns the wallet into a live status view rather than a static repository, making it easier for users to see changes without waiting for manual refreshes.
The Gov.gr Wallet update builds on Greece’s broader digital identity program, including the rollout of a unified digital ID system to modernize public services. The new features extend the wallet’s role beyond storage to include ongoing status and security signals tied to government-issued credentials.
By adding real-time revocation alerts, the government is positioning the app as a channel for rapid security updates when a credential is withdrawn or reported lost. That capability can help reduce misuse of digital IDs and provide faster feedback to users when a credential needs to be replaced.
The combination of OTP auto-fill and real-time status indicators suggests a continued push to lower friction for legitimate users while tightening the feedback loop around credential integrity. OT.gr said the features are now available as part of the latest update to the state’s official digital wallet.
