A comprehensive new database mapping government-affiliated digital identity projects worldwide has launched, offering visibility into how digital ID initiatives are interconnected globally. The Web of Trust Map, created by Key State Capital, currently tracks over 200 projects across 80 countries, providing a first-of-its-kind resource for understanding the complex landscape of digital identity development.
The interactive platform serves as a detailed repository for tracking relationships between various digital identity initiatives, highlighting connections between projects, consortia, and key individuals. It covers multiple technological approaches, from blockchain-based systems to biometric authentication and privacy-preserving protocols.
The launch comes at a pivotal moment as governments worldwide increasingly embrace digital identity solutions. Recent examples include Tunisia’s E-Houwiya initiative and Greece’s development of a digital ID app for child online safety, demonstrating the growing diversity of government-led digital identity projects.
The platform’s open-source nature enables community contributions to maintain accuracy and comprehensiveness, while its interactive visualization system helps users understand complex relationships between different initiatives.
Key State Capital has committed to ongoing expansion of the database and is actively seeking input from the global digital identity community to enhance its coverage and accuracy.
