Barmer, one of Germany’s largest statutory health insurers, is tendering for licenses, maintenance, and support tied to One Identity, the identity management and access management technology underpinning its enterprise systems. The procurement covers the licensing and ongoing support the insurer needs to run identity and access management as part of a broader program to build and operate what it calls its Enterprise Core.
The tender is squarely about identity infrastructure. Barmer is seeking the licenses, or the maintenance and support for existing licenses, of its identity management and identity and access management technology, the systems that govern how staff accounts are created and what each user is allowed to reach across the organization. The requirement is tied to a separate Enterprise Core procurement, indicating that identity and access management sits at the center of how Barmer plans to provision and control access in its modernized environment.
The contract is structured as a long-term commitment. As set out in the notice, the term runs from the start of 2027 through the end of 2031, a five-year window that points to sustained investment in the insurer’s existing One Identity footprint rather than a one-off purchase. The work is to be performed for Barmer’s operations, with tenders due in early July 2026.
The tender reflects how central identity and access management has become to large enterprises securing their internal systems, a market that has seen vendors move to strengthen resilience, including Rubrik’s acquisition of Strata Identity to add identity continuity and resilience capabilities.
Bids are due by July 9, 2026, with the contract set to begin in January 2027.
