“At ForgeRock, Lyon will lead the company’s global engineering efforts…”
Identity and access management specialist ForgeRock has a new head of engineering: Chris Lyon has been appointed to the role as the company’s newest Senior Vice President.
Lyon brings decades of experience working in tech, having held positions with a number of companies in Silicon Valley over the years. Notable example include Mozilla, where he was Director of Infrastructure & Application Security from 2009 to 2011; data protection startup Lookout, where he was VP of Engineering, Platform, and Security from 2014 to 2017; and MuleSoft, a company he joined as VP of Engineering in 2017, and which was acquired by Salesforce the next year.
At ForgeRock, Lyon will lead the company’s global engineering efforts, and will report to Chief Product Officer Peter Barker. In a statement announcing the appointment, Barker highlighted Lyon’s experience, saying he is “thrilled to welcome” him to the team.
“Chris is an innovative engineering leader with an impressive track record of delivering enterprise-grade solutions for the cloud era that help customers solve complex problems,” he said. “His passion and domain expertise in identity, security, mobile, and cloud is an incredible asset to our team, customers, and partners.”
Lyon’s appointment comes about a month after ForgeRock’s Identity Cloud platform was listed on the Google Cloud Marketplace, with ForgeRock having joined the Google Cloud Partner Advantage Program in 2019. The developments are indicative of ForgeRock’s efforts to position itself as a prominent player in the growing IAM market, having obtained ISO 27001 certification and joined the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association in September.
For his part, Lyon lauded ForgeRock as “a proven market leader with incredible growth potential as the pace of digital transformation accelerates the need for a next-gen identity cloud platform,” adding later that he “can’t wait to get started” in his new role with the company.
