Fidelity National Financial (FNF), the largest title insurance provider in the United States, has partnered with CLEAR Secure, Inc. to integrate biometric identity verification into real estate transactions. Announced on September 9, 2025, the collaboration brings CLEAR’s CLEAR1 platform into FNF’s inHere digital closing system, aiming to address security risks such as seller impersonation, fraudulent email communications, and wire fraud.
Three-Phase Approach to Fraud Prevention
FNF’s enhanced security framework follows a structured, three-phase model. The first phase, education, is delivered through the company’s WireSafe program, which raises fraud awareness among stakeholders. The second phase, execution, leverages the inHere digital platform to manage transactions securely. The third phase, enhancement, integrates CLEAR’s biometric authentication to verify the identities of all participants in the property closing process.
The initial rollout began in July 2025 in select markets, with lessons from this phase expected to guide broader deployment. CLEAR’s identity platform, which supports over 33 million members and more than 100 partner locations across North America, provides the infrastructure to scale biometric verification across FNF’s national operations.
“Our partnership with CLEAR demonstrates our ongoing commitment to innovation, integrating CLEAR’s biometric technology directly into our operational processes and our inHere platform,” said Mike Nolan, CEO of Fidelity National Financial.
Expanding Biometric Verification in Real Estate
According to CLEAR CEO Caryn Seidman Becker, “We’re thrilled to partner with FNF to bring CLEAR’s secure identity platform to real estate transactions.” She emphasized that the system ensures proper verification of all participants in property deals, helping to strengthen trust between buyers, sellers, and agents.
The partnership reflects a broader movement in the real estate sector toward using biometric technology to improve transaction security. While biometric verification has been adopted in sectors like air travel and financial services, its integration into title insurance and closing processes represents a new application for the technology in combating fraud.
FNF’s deployment of biometric verification also aligns with increasing industry focus on digital identity solutions as part of comprehensive fraud prevention strategies. By embedding identity checks into the digital transaction flow, the company aims to reduce risk, streamline processes, and reinforce confidence in the integrity of high-value property transactions.
