Flare Network has launched Luminite, a non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet that removes the need for traditional seed phrases by using passkey, biometric, or email-based authentication. Designed to give XRP holders simpler access to decentralized finance (DeFi), the wallet offers a login experience similar to mainstream Web2 services while maintaining user control over private keys.
Luminite is built on Turnkey’s embedded wallet infrastructure, combining institutional-grade security with a user-friendly interface. Instead of managing 12- or 24-word recovery phrases, users can open their wallets through passkeys, fingerprint or face recognition, or verified email accounts. “Luminite was built with one goal in mind: to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3 users,” said Steve Chadwick, Luminite co-founder. “By removing complex barriers of entry, we’re enabling anyone – from first-time users to seasoned crypto holders – to access the full power of the Flare ecosystem.”
Integrated DeFi features
The wallet includes fiat on-ramp capabilities through providers such as Topper, allowing direct purchases of FLR and XRP within the app. Users can take part in a range of DeFi activities on the Flare network, including staking FLR, swapping tokens, and cross-chain bridging through services like Stargate. In the coming months, Luminite plans to enable XRP-to-FXRP conversion via Flare’s FAssets system, unlocking additional staking and liquidity provision opportunities for XRP holders. This functionality is not available at launch but is a planned expansion.
Chadwick emphasized that the design is meant to appeal beyond the crypto-native audience: “This is about making DeFi approachable, not just for the crypto-native, but for the next wave of users discovering blockchain through real utility.”
Market positioning and adoption factors
Luminite enters a competitive wallet market, with its success likely depending on growth in Flare’s total value locked (TVL), liquidity incentives, and expanded developer integrations. Matching the breadth of functionality offered on established blockchains like Ethereum and Solana will be key to attracting long-term users. Flare officials say the wallet’s blend of ease-of-use, security, and integrated DeFi tools is aimed at positioning the network for broader adoption.
