“IoT is connecting the world around us, so the ways we access our homes and digital services need to keep up.” – Thomas Rex, SVP BL Smartcards, Automotive & Embedded, Fingerprints
Fingerprint Cards has announced an updated version of its FPC-BM solution.
Like its predecessor, the new FPC BM-Lite is a biometric module designed to offer a range of potential applications, including integrations into smart door locks, crypto wallets, and FIDO-based authentication devices. FPC says the solution features all the necessary hardware and software for biometric authentication, and that its built-in processor enables biometric calculations to be done “in a fraction of a second,” according to a statement announcing the device.
In other words, it’s billed as a fast and effective plug-and-play biometric solution.
Commenting further, Fingerprint Cards SVP Thomas Rex framed the FPC BM-Lite as a biometric solution for the Internet of Things. “IoT is connecting the world around us, so the ways we access our homes and digital services need to keep up,” he said. “As the number of connected devices is growing, the need for seamless and secure access to devices and applications is essential to remove the hassle with PINs and passwords.”
The solution’s launch arrives on the heels of Fingerprint Cards’ announcement that one of its biometric sensors had been integrated into a new payment device from Japan’s JCB.
