ID4Africa LiveCast: Building Trust in the Democratic Process

Identity management has always played an indispensable role in facilitating citizen participation in the democratic process by making possible trustworthy electoral systems based on unique verifiable identities. However, in recent times these systems have suffered unprecedented political attacks seeking to undermine their credibility, and have been under stress, as they had to function under difficult conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The World’s current reality calls for reexamining the electoral processes end-to-end to ensure their efficiency and resilience, and to make them withstand political attacks by demonstrating that they are built on processes that are highly resistant to fraud.
In view of the critical importance of this topic, identity expert and host of the ID4Africa LiveCasts, Dr. Joseph Atick, will engage with an illustrious panel of experts from electoral commissions in Africa (Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa & Guinea), think tanks and solutions providers in an unprecedented interactive session to explore how to build electoral systems that are resilient to the challenges of our times, and that are able to gain voters’ trust. This session is 100% LIVE with opportunities to engage with the panel and hundreds of other identity stakeholders from over 140 countries worldwide!

ID4Africa Livecast: Vaccination Certificates & Identity Management

Among governments and those in the travel industry, a new global health credential that is securely tied to a verifiable identity has emerged. As more of the world’s population gets vaccinated to contain the spread of COVID-19, it is reasonable to expect that proof of that vaccination and its recency will become a requirement for entry into countries and part of the travel credentials like passports and travel documents. It may also become a requirement for a broader range of daily activities, including attending schools or working in an office in certain countries, etc.
In view of the critical and global importance of this emerging topic and its intimate connection with identity management, ID4Africa is dedicating a 3-Part series of LiveCasts to delve into the surrounding issues. This first episode features renowned decision-makers of international organizations and think tanks currently in the midst of deliberations to arrive at an interoperable credential for attesting to the immunity of the traveling public. The 2nd and 3rd episode will highlight a series of related innovations for the new norm.

ID4Africa LiveCast: Gender Matters in Identity Systems

Join ID4Africa on Wednesday, March 10 for a special LiveCast dedicated to gender matters in identity systems and the challenges women and girls face in addressing these systems and their services.
This episode will be held in commemoration of International Women’s Day (celebrated March 8). The objective is to explore gender gaps and inform policy on how to rectify them and manage risks of exclusion especially in a digital world in the Post-COVID era, where women appear to have been disproportionately disadvantaged.
Consistent with the Movement’s commitment to total inclusion, this session will advocate for policy and pragmatic measures to ensure that women and girls are not left behind.
