“We are pleased to receive this additional integration which is a recognition of the quality of our leading fingerprint software and that our strategic direction of increasing our presence in Asia is showing results.” – Stefan K. Persson, CEO, Precise Biometrics
Precise Biometrics‘ partnership with Egis Technology has brought its fingerprint algorithm software into even more smartphones, the company has announced.
As with the company’s announcement from last month about its first major integration with Egis, Precise has not indicated which particular smartphone brand this latest integration concerns. But the company did state that its Precise BioMatch Mobile software is being used in a new “series of smartphones” featuring Egis’s fingerprint sensor technology, and that the order is expected to generate 15 MSEK in revenues during the second half of this year.
It was in last month’s announcement that Precise Biometrics revealed that a “leading fingerprint sensor supplier” it had partnered with earlier this year was in fact Egis, and that its Precise BioMatch Mobile technology was being used with an optical in-display fingerprint sensor thanks to the partnership. That deal was expected to deliver SEK 10 million in the second half of this year.
As with that integration, the revenues generated by this latest one will depend on royalties based on the actual number of devices using Precise BioMatch Mobile; but Precise Biometrics’ anticipation of even higher total revenues suggests that its partnership with Egis is solidifying and expanding.
Commenting on the news, Precise Biometrics CEO Stefan K. Persson gestured to his company’s corporate reorganization efforts, which have involved the opening of a new office in Shanghai. “We are pleased to receive this additional integration which is a recognition of the quality of our leading fingerprint software and that our strategic direction of increasing our presence in Asia is showing results,” he said.
