Digital Identity Co. and Thailand’s Immigration Bureau have launched THIM, a cloud-based web and mobile application designed to modernize the country’s arrival-card process for international travelers. The system is built on Amazon Web Services and is being piloted for an immigration environment that processes about 30 million tourists a year.

THIM, short for Thailand Immigration Management, moves arrival registration into a digital workflow that travelers can complete before landing in Thailand. The platform uses AI-powered optical character recognition to extract passport data and support electronic know-your-customer checks, with a target processing time of under three minutes per traveler.

The system is designed to integrate with the Immigration Bureau’s existing databases and border-management systems. Digital Identity Co., the Bangkok-based company behind the platform, built the app to handle document verification, traveler registration, and immigration-management functions through a web portal and mobile app.

AWS said the deployment uses cloud infrastructure and security services to support high-volume processing, including encryption, monitoring, threat detection, and application-level protection. The source material does not identify specific biometric matching services as part of the THIM deployment, so the current public record supports the system as an AI-assisted document and arrival-management platform rather than a confirmed facial-recognition deployment.

The pilot is part of Thailand’s broader effort to digitize border and immigration workflows. The country’s identity and border systems have increasingly moved toward automated credential checks, including biometric registration for undocumented migrant workers and airport passenger-processing upgrades. THIM fits that larger modernization push by shifting the arrival-card step into a pre-arrival digital channel.

Digital Identity Co. is positioning THIM for wider use across Thailand’s land, air, and sea entry points after the pilot phase. The company and AWS describe the project as a way to reduce manual processing while maintaining government control over immigration data and security screening workflows.
