CyberLink and VIA Technologies have launched an integrated facial recognition access-control offering that combines CyberLink’s FaceMe Security software with VIA ACS devices, giving building operators and enterprise security teams a packaged option for edge-based identity checks at doors and gates. The companies said the system is aimed at smart buildings, corporate campuses and industrial sites where customers want biometric verification and access management without stitching together separate hardware and software layers.
The release centers on VIA’s ACS hardware, which uses MediaTek’s Genio 700 system-on-chip for on-device AI processing. CyberLink said FaceMe has been tuned for that processor’s neural engine, allowing facial matching to run up to 6.5 times faster than CPU-only processing while cutting CPU workload by 24 percent. VIA also said the device includes an IR and RGB dual-camera module, and CyberLink said it has optimized FaceMe’s terminal add-on for that setup to strengthen liveness detection and anti-spoofing.
The companies are positioning the product as a plug-and-play access-control package rather than a component partnership. In this segment, deployment speed and integration complexity often determine whether a biometric access project expands beyond one site. CyberLink said the combined system supports facial recognition and card-based verification through existing industrial I/O and communications interfaces, which lets facilities add biometric entry checks without extra expansion modules. The design is also pitched for multi-site rollouts that need local processing and simpler remote management.
The package reflects an effort to lower the operational barrier to rollout by pairing tuned liveness checks, edge AI hardware and access-control integrations in a single commercial bundle. That approach could make biometric entry systems easier to expand across multi-site facilities where latency, uptime and spoof resistance matter as much as match accuracy.
