Romanian qualified trust services provider certSIGN has announced a strategic partnership with German digital identity firm Lissi to advance adoption of the European Digital Identity Wallet in Romania.
The collaboration combines certSIGN’s expertise in PKI-based trust services, electronic signatures, and digital identity with Lissi’s EUDI Wallet Connector API. Together, the companies aim to help Romanian organizations move from eIDAS 2.0 regulatory requirements to production-ready EUDI Wallet deployments with reduced technical complexity.
Under the arrangement, Romanian organizations will be able to access eIDAS-compliant API software for EUDI Wallet use cases through certSIGN. The joint offering is designed to support wallet-based identification, credential verification, strong customer authentication, and qualified electronic signatures with minimal changes to existing IT systems.
The two companies have already conducted joint demonstrations of practical EUDI Wallet applications, including full Know Your Customer processes for banking, digital identity use in loan applications, and qualified electronic signatures for credit approvals. These were conducted using a sandbox environment hosted within certSIGN’s infrastructure, which is available to third parties for testing EUDI Wallet integrations.
certSIGN is a qualified trust service provider under eIDAS, giving it a central role in Romania’s digital identity infrastructure. The partnership with Lissi adds a wallet interoperability layer designed to bridge certSIGN’s existing PKI capabilities with the new EUDI Wallet ecosystem.
The partnership is positioned to support Romania’s preparation for the Romanian Digital Wallet rollout and aligns with the broader EU timetable for member states to deploy EUDI Wallet infrastructure. Both companies said they are building toward interoperability with wallets across other EU member states. Germany has separately proposed making the EUDI Wallet a mandatory age gate for social media, reflecting the wallet’s expanding role across the EU’s digital services landscape.
