Bybit Partners with Biometric.Vision to Deploy Biometric KYC for Crypto Exchange in Kazakhstan

Bybit is integrating biometric identity verification into its operations in Kazakhstan through a new partnership with local AI firm Biometric.Vision. The collaboration was announced at the Digital Bridge 2025 forum in Astana and will be used to strengthen Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance on the exchange’s licensed platform.

Bybit Kazakhstan, regulated by the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA), will incorporate Biometric.Vision’s expertise in computer vision and facial recognition to accelerate onboarding and improve the reliability of its verification process. Country Manager Ablaikhan Aubakir said the goal is to ensure users have confidence in digital asset transactions while remaining within the country’s regulatory framework.

The partnership reflects a broader convergence between cryptocurrency exchanges and traditional financial services, where robust biometric-based KYC is becoming essential for regulated market access. Exchanges globally are under increasing pressure to meet identity verification standards designed to combat financial crime and align with international frameworks.

Bybit’s choice of a domestic Kazakhstani partner over a global identity verification provider also signals a deliberate localization strategy. Founder Alibek Narimbaev of Biometric.Vision said the collaboration underscores Kazakhstan’s potential as a regional innovation hub. The approach demonstrates Bybit’s intent to secure long-term relationships with regulators and local technology partners.

The move builds on earlier initiatives by Bybit Kazakhstan, including a pilot for QR-based digital asset payments under the National Bank of Kazakhstan’s sandbox program. Combined, these projects position the country as a growing fintech hub in Central Asia and suggest a model for how global crypto platforms can succeed in emerging markets by working with local identity technology providers.
