Suprema brought the latest version of its FaceStation solution to this month’s INTERSEC 2020 event in Dubai. The new FaceStation is expected to launch sometime in the second half of 2020.
FaceStation is an access control terminal that leverages facial recognition for identity verification and authentication. The original FaceStation debuted all the way back in 2012, while the award-winning FaceStation 2 arrived several years later in 2017. The sequel significantly boosted the speed of the platform to carry out 3,000 matches per second.
Suprema did not share any details about the new FaceStation’s technical specifications, or the nature of the improvements that it will bring to the platform. However, the announcement of the new version suggests that Suprema is trying to accelerate its production schedule in an effort to capitalize on the anticipated growth of the facial recognition market.
Suprema previously demonstrated a facial recognition prototype as part of its Global Partner Program in November, though it’s not yet clear if that prototype was FaceStation or another facial recognition product. More recently, the company hired a new Sales Representative in an effort to increase its presence in the African market.
Suprema also showcased its BioStar 2 security and credentialing platform for guests at INTERSEC 2020.
