New Plurilock Board Member Brings Years of Experience in Cybersecurity Tech

Behavioral biometrics specialist Plurilock has a new member on its board of directors who boasts of a considerable amount of experience in cybersecurity.

Officially appointed as an independent director on April 1st, Ed Hammersla comes to the company from a previous role as CEO of Utilidata, a developer of software products for utilities. Before that, Hammersla was the head of the federal division of Forcepoint, a cybersecurity-focused Raytheon joint venture. He has also held leadership positions with Sterling Software, Informix Federal, NEC, and Trusted Computer Solutions, and was involved in the development of a version of the Linux operating system called Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

“With Ed’s completely unique background in cybersecurity platforms, ecosystems, and infrastructure, we saw him immediately as a key addition to our growing team,” commented Plurilock Chairman of the Board Barry Carlson in a statement announcing Hammersla’s appointment. “Ed has insights, connections, and experiences across the industry that can’t be duplicated.”

Commenting further, Plurilock CEO Ian Paterson framed Hammersla’s expertise in terms of the accelerating shift toward security technologies like one-time passwords and biometric scans in the enterprise sector. “Ed has a deep understanding of the day-to-day security needs and realities in the verticals that we serve—and how these will evolve going forward,” he said.

Having raised considerable investment funding in recent years, the British Columbia-based tech firm recently announced plans to go public sometime this year.
