BioEnable Technologies has received official certification from India’s Standardisation Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) for its IriUniverse-One iris scanner, clearing the device for use with the country’s Aadhaar digital ID system.
The IriUniverse-One, designed specifically for discrete iris capture, joins a growing ecosystem of certified biometric devices supporting India’s national digital identity infrastructure. The Android-compatible scanner processes biometric data from one eye at a time, adding to the diverse range of authentication options available to Aadhaar users.
This certification reflects a broader trend of biometric device manufacturers seeking STQC approval for integration with the Aadhaar system. The certification process requires manufacturers to meet stringent technical and security standards, including obtaining both a valid STQC-issued Public Device Certificate and UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) Certificate.
The certification comes at a time when Aadhaar authentication is being increasingly integrated into various government services, as evidenced by recent implementations in GST registration processes across different Indian states.
BioEnable Technologies, an established player in India’s biometric technology sector, has demonstrated its ability to meet the government’s exacting standards for Aadhaar-compatible devices through this certification. The approval of the IriUniverse-One scanner is expected to contribute to the ongoing expansion and accessibility of Aadhaar-based services across India.
