BehavioSec has sponsored a new report that details how organizations can use behavioral biometrics to comply with current and future data protection regulations. The report itself was put together by Goode Intelligence, with additional legal input from the international law firm of Osborne Clarke.

The 2021 Global Data Privacy Regulation of Physical & Behavioral Biometrics report ultimately concludes that behavioral biometrics can help protect people’s personal information, even in an increasingly complex (and increasingly remote) online environment. The various parties noted that the technology fulfills the latest GDPR, PSD2, and 3D Secure requirements, and may even be ready for future legislation like Schrems II in the European Union (proposed in July of 2020) and the National Biometrics Information Privacy Act in the US (proposed in August).
“As we move more of our personal and business tasks online, it is becoming increasingly important to secure digital channels,” said report author and Good Intelligence Founder, CEO, and Chief Analyst Alan Goode. “Behavioral biometric technology has proven itself as a vital tool in enabling secure access to digital services, preventing fraudsters from gaining access, all while remaining compliant to GDPR, among others.”
Goode will discuss the report’s findings and the international regulatory situation in a pair of webinars next month. The first (hosted by BehavioSec and IDG) will take place on May 25, when Goode and a panel of experts will explain how businesses can use biometric technologies to prevent fraud and complete their digital transformations. The second (hosted by Goode), will take place on May 26, and will explore specific use cases for the technology.
“Technology vendors need to work collaboratively with government and business to ensure better protection and experience for consumers and employees while staying fully compliant,” added BehavioSec CEO Neil Costigan. “We’re offering this research to the market to open the dialogue, and we’re also demonstrating and modeling compliance as a company. Beyond our ongoing support of security best practices, we are happy to share our recent SOC2 Type 1 certification and our active program for Type 2 and ISO 27001.”
Goode Intelligence recently published a separate report that suggests that biometrics will be an integral component of the payments market in the wake of COVID-19.
