Bahrain’s Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) has launched new digital services allowing citizens and residents to access ID cards and birth certificates through the MyGov mobile application.
The new features, part of the first phase of MyGov’s service rollout, enable users to view their ID cards, access birth certificates, and manage identification documents for children under 18 and domestic workers. The news builds on Bahrain’s recent introduction of digital travel-enabled national ID cards, which made it the first Gulf Cooperation Council country to implement such technology.
The MyGov app integrates with Bahrain’s recently launched eKey 2.0 digital identity system, which features biometric authentication capabilities, ensuring secure access to sensitive personal documents. Users can download the application through the Bahrain eGovernment App Store at bahrain.bh/apps.
The digital service expansion reflects a broader regional push toward modernizing government services, with Bahrain positioning itself as a regional leader in digital transformation. The integration of ID card and birth certificate services into the MyGov platform aims to reduce the need for in-person visits to government offices while providing citizens and residents with more efficient ways to manage their official documents.
