Aware has been named a “Luminary” in the Prism Project’s 2025 Deepfake and Synthetic Identity Report, an industry recognition that underscores the company’s long-standing contributions to biometric security. The announcement coincides with a significant update to Aware’s biometric platform, featuring faster face matching and smarter mobile capture tools designed to improve both performance and user experience.
Recognition for technical leadership
The Prism Project evaluated more than 200 vendors in its latest report on the identity fraud landscape, highlighting companies making critical advances in deepfake detection, synthetic identity defense, and liveness verification. Aware was identified as a top performer for its capabilities in injection detection, active and passive liveness, and emerging deepfake countermeasures.
“This latest Prism Report brings clarity to the real capabilities of vendors in this space,” said Dr. Mohamed Lazzouni, Chief Technology Officer at Aware. “We’re proud that the Awareness Platform, specifically our deepfake and liveness detection, was recognized as a leader in both rigor and real-world performance.”
The company’s recognition comes shortly after it achieved top-tier results in passive liveness testing conducted by the Department of Homeland Security. In those trials, Aware’s solution was cited for delivering best-in-class accuracy under adversarial conditions.
Platform upgrades address speed and usability
Alongside the Prism recognition, Aware introduced a new round of upgrades to its biometric platform. The latest version features up to a 14-fold improvement in face-matching speed, supporting 1:N searches with faster throughput across devices. New mobile capture enhancements were also announced, allowing for more efficient image acquisition and processing, especially in dynamic or uncontrolled environments.
“In today’s environment, where deepfakes and digital deception are eroding trust, organizations need to verify identities and proof of personhood with confidence,” said Ajay Amlani, CEO of Aware. “These latest innovations to our platform give our customers the speed, reliability and assurance they need to deliver secure, seamless experiences at scale.”
The upgrades align with broader trends identified by the Prism Project, which forecasts more than 5 trillion biometric transactions and $315 billion in revenue between 2024 and 2028. Those figures reflect growing demand for secure identity verification across finance, government, and digital services.
