Authsignal has launched Number Verify with Aduna, giving businesses a carrier-based way to confirm possession of a mobile number without asking customers to receive and enter an SMS one-time passcode.
The service uses network-based silent authentication or SIM-based verification, depending on the mobile network and implementation. It is available across 10 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France and Germany, with access to millions of mobile connections, according to Authsignal.
Number Verify removes the code-entry step from eligible customer journeys. Instead of sending a temporary secret by text message and asking the user to return it, the check obtains a possession signal through mobile-network infrastructure. The customer does not need to wait for a message or switch away from the transaction to copy a code.
Authsignal positions the service as one option within its existing authentication platform, alongside passkeys, adaptive multifactor authentication and other verification methods. Businesses can introduce it into established workflows without replacing their current authentication infrastructure.
The company distinguishes the number-possession check from other forms of assurance. Passkeys provide phishing-resistant authentication, while identity verification and biometrics address different questions about the person using a service. Number Verify supplies a carrier-based signal that can be combined with those methods according to the risk of an interaction.
Authsignal’s rules can also incorporate SIM-swap detection and retain SMS codes where needed. Removing the SMS code from a particular workflow eliminates the opportunity to steal that code through social engineering, while the broader authentication decision can still draw on additional checks.
Aduna has been expanding access to mobile-network APIs, which expose functions such as number verification and SIM-swap checks to application developers. Its U.S. coverage includes the three major mobile carriers, giving service providers a route to network signals without arranging separate integrations with each operator.
The company also expanded its relationship with Bouygues Telecom in France around network-based verification services. Those offerings include number verification, SIM-swap detection and checks that compare customer details with operator records.
Within Authsignal, Number Verify joins the same drop-in authentication service used for passkeys and adaptive verification. Businesses can select the method for eligible networks and customer journeys, then request stronger or different verification when their configured risk policies require it.
