“The system now allows passengers to conduct their own security screening, with the system using facial recognition to match their scanned images to those on their passports.”
The airport of a major Caribbean vacation destination, Sint Maarten of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, is getting a biometric upgrade. Vision-Box is providing its technology and expertise to implement a screening system for Princess Juliana International Airport.
The airport now uses Vision-Box’s vb i-match self-service automated border control eGates, which have been installed to complement the vb i-match security checkpoints previously deployed by Vision-Box. The system now allows passengers to conduct their own security screening, with the system using facial recognition to match their scanned images to those on their passports. Meanwhile, the vb inspector platform allows security personnel to monitor the whole process and receive immediate alerts on detected identity fraud.
Vision-Box’s work isn’t over, however. The company says that later this year it’s going to implement in the airport its vb orchestra passenger tracking and analytics platform, which should further extend airport authorities’ overview of the Princess Juliana International Airport’s security situation. And by the end of the year, the company says it will have installed its Advance Passenger Information/Passenger Name Record platform, which it says will render the airport fully self-service.
