Piscataway, NJ (PRWEB) June 03, 2013: Q-Polychron LLC has developed a novel approach to Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) and passwords that offers a radically different approach to network security. This authentication technique bridges the divide between biometrics and behavioral science, and endeavors to integrate human abilities with state-of-the-art verification and validation methods. The official title of this new concept is the Symbolic/Non-symbolic Access Protocol, or the SNAP security method, and is styled as an interactive password technique that is cued by a progression of sensory stimuli.
“The SNAP protocol is a twist on two-factor authentication and aims to protect users of systems that require password or PIN based authentication. In such systems, a user runs the risk of accidentally disclosing his/her password to malicious adversaries, thereby compromising the security of his/her account. The SNAP protocol provides a method to protect user accounts in such systems even if the password or PIN were stolen. To do so, it uses for example, a tone that the user is familiar with, requiring the user to enter the password/PIN in conjunction with the tone.”

About Q-Polychron LLC
Q-Polychron is a New Hampshire company founded in January 2011. It encompasses the work done on the SNAP security method and the core technologies that explore the relationship between natural systems and finite state machines. Their motivation in creating the SNAP security method is to exploit the wealth of human cognitive dynamics that have evolved over many millennia as the foundation of a security protocol that establishes true ownership of tangible and intangible assets in any environment.
