Sharp’s new Aquos smartphones will feature Synaptics Natural ID fingerprint sensors. The sensors will be mounted on the sides of the new Sharp Aquos Ever SH-02J and the Aquos Disney Mobile DM-01J.
The Sharp devices will be launched as part of the new smartphone lineup of NTT DoCoMo, Japan’s biggest mobile network operator. In a statement announcing the integrations, Synaptics Marketing VP Anthony Gioeli called Sharp “an innovative leader”, adding “We look forward to working together on future projects and help to deliver high-performance, highly secure and convenient biometric solutions for their customers.”
The integrations follow last month’s announcement that TCL was using a Synaptics sensor in an under-glass application on a new smartphone, and September’s news that Lenovo would use a Synaptics sensor in its newest convertible laptop. Altogether, the developments suggest continuing momentum for Synaptics in the mobile biometrics market.
