Anti-fraud company LaserLock Technologies has undergone a major restructuring and rebranding. Currently in the process of changing its name to VerifyMe, the company has acquired crucial technology assets and welcomes a new senior management team.
Previously, LaserLock had been licensing its main authentication product from a separate company called VerifyMe. Now, it has purchased VerifyMe’s technology portfolio, which includes patents related to biometrics, liveness detection, risk assessment, and duress protection. In a statement, LaserLock CTO pointed to the technology’s NIST certification and asserted that the company’s “digital platform delivers military grade authentication”, offering “the most secure alternative for authenticating human beings.”
The company also welcomed Paul Donfried, a biometrics and authentication specialist with experience as CTO of Identity and Access Management at Verizon, as its new CEO in early May; while Sandy Fliderman, the inventor of VerifyMe’s technology, has been appointed as LaserLock’s new CTO.
The restructuring’s emphasis on technological assets is an indication of its seriousness in pursuing a strong position in the authentication market. The company has previously enjoyed major deployments with such organizations as a major financial services advisory firm and a Mexican online gaming company; now, with its tech firmly in-house, an experienced leadership team, and also having retired some outstanding debts and gone forward with a capital raise, the company is on some solid footing to make strides in the market.
