Iris biometrics specialist Iris ID has finished installing its iris recognition readers at the European Organization for Nuclear Research, or CERN, in Geneva, Switzerland.
While Iris ID technology has seen large-scale deployments in settings like major financial institutions and even national elections, its CERN deployments may be among its most high-profile. Co-run by 21 countries, CERN is one of the most important experimental science facilities in the world, featuring the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator.
The company has announced that 25 of its readers have now been set up at the access points of CERN’s Proton Synchrotron accelerator complex, providing secure access control. It’s a continuation of a partnership that extends back to 2008, with Iris ID having previously installed 55 readers for access control at the Large Hadron Collider facility.
Commenting on this latest deployment in a statement, Iris ID VP of global sales and business development Mohammed Murad said his company’s technology is the right fit for the high standards of the facility, asserting that it is “designed to meet the demanding needs at CERN or any other organization requiring reliability, speed and accuracy.”
