Imprivata has joined CommonWell Health Alliance, a non-profit trade consortium aimed at encouraging low-cost, universal access to patient data in the healthcare industry.
In its cooperation with the alliance as a General Member, Imprivata will share its expertise in biometric patient identification; one of the company’s flagship healthcare solutions is PatientSecure, a system that uses palm vein biometrics to reliably and quickly identify healthcare patients.
In a statement announcing the move, Imprivata CEO Gus Malezis emphasized the importance of CommonWell Health Alliance’s focus on interoperability in healthcare IT systems, calling it “the key to bringing the enormous power of technology to bear on healthcare, the way that it has in other industries.” For its part, CommonWell Health Alliance Membership Committee chair Nick Knowlton said the organization is “excited to welcome Imprivata as we continue to deploy our person-centric interoperability services nationwide.”
CommonWell Health Alliance has almost 70 members, and says they represent a third of the ambulatory care EHR market and two thirds of the acute care EHR market.
