IDEX has a new customer. The company has announced that an unnamed, China-based OEM has opted to use its Cardinal fingerprint sensor in a new mobile device expected to enter mass production in the first half of next year.
In a statement announcing the new deal, IDEX sales SVP Yang Chiah Yee said the client is a “vendor with a significant volume of handset shipments.” Yee added that the contract was the result of a new business strategy on IDEX’s part that has seen the company “move to a direct sales model”, with China being a market in which it is primarily focused.
The latest contract complements previous design wins for the company from earlier this year. In July another unnamed smartphone OEM also selected the Cardinal sensor for its new device, and in late spring an integration was announced with LG for its Stylus 2 Plus smartphone.
