Fingerprint and touchscreen solutions provider Goodix is hoping to make a big splash at next week’s Mobile World Congress with what it promises will be “another world’s first technology”.
In a statement, the company did not offer any details on the new technology, other than to say that it is “patented with independent intellectual properties”. But the company emphasized the technology’s sophistication, asserting that it will “demonstrate Goodix’s superior ability to accurately anticipate market trends and address people’s needs through technology,” with Goodix CEO David Zhang adding that it will show customers “why we continue to lead the global IC design industry.”
The company’s track record does offer reason for some excitement, with Goodix having won the Best Innovation Award for Embedded Technologies at last month’s CES event for its liveness detection system for fingerprint scanning. Its fingerprint sensor technology also persuaded smartphone maker LG to switch from the IDEX sensors it had been using for previous devices.
MWC will take place in Barcelona from February 27th to March 2nd, with Goodix participating at stand 1F40 in Hall 1.
