Gemalto, Caliber Offer Speedy CJIS Compliance with Authentication Solution

Gemalto has teamed up with Caliber Public Safety to offer a new authentication solution to law enforcement organizations, leveraging Gemalto’s SafeNet Authentication Service and Caliber’s Public Safety Cloud infrastructure.Gemalto, Caliber Offer Speedy CJIS Compliance with Authentication Solution

The solution is aimed at helping clients to comply with Criminal Justice Information Service requirements regulating how sensitive information like fingerprint records and rap sheets are accessed. Focusing particularly on the need for two-factor authentication, Gemalto and Caliber say their solution is based on “both mobile soft tokens and physical ones,” according to a statement announcing their collaboration. The companies also emphasize that theirs is a software-as-a-service solution, ensuring that “public safety organizations have little to no installation overhead and can deploy almost immediately.”

Commenting on the solution, Gemalto Authentication Products SVP Francois Lasnier stressed the urgency of the matter, noting that with the CJIS regulations now in effect, law enforcement agencies are susceptible to compliance audits. “Gemalto’s authentication solutions provide them with a rapid path to making sure they pass these audits,” he said.

With law enforcement agencies exchanging increasing amounts of sensitive data, including digital biometrics records, the new solution should help to ensure that such data is restricted to investigators’ eyes only.
