In a new partnership, Fujitsu has integrated OpenLimit’s data protection technology into its flagship biometric identification system. The resulting Fujitsu PalmSecure Truedentity platform leverages both Fujitsu’s palm vein biometrics scanning and OpenLimit’s Truedentity data transmission security.
It’s a development aimed at better protecting the biometric identity data collected and transmitted via Fujitsu’s biometric system. Its electronic identity card (eID) technology ensures that this data is transmitted only when it’s both requested and actively approved by the subject for transmission, and it’s then sent through communication channels secured by OpenLimit’s Truedentity technology. The system meets German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) guidelines as well as Europe’s Electronic Identification and Trust Service (eIDAS) regulations.
Having refined its palm vein scanning technology and investigated other potential biometric systems, Fujitsu has recently focused more on the protection of biometric data. The company recently announced a randomized tokenization system for biometric data, for example, and now with its Trudentity integration it’s implementing advanced data transmission security into its extant technology. It’s a forward-thinking approach that recognizes the value of biometric data – both for authentication and for would-be hackers.
