“The client will use BIO-key’s ID Director for Windows together with BIO-key’s USB fingerprint readers in order to enable quick sign-on for employees across its network…”
BIO-key has a big new client in the healthcare sector, the company has announced.
In a statement, the company declined to name its new partner, but described it as “a global medical device and data management solutions provider” with over 25,000 employees serving customers across over a hundred countries. The client will use BIO-key’s ID Director for Windows together with BIO-key’s USB fingerprint readers in order to enable quick sign-on for employees across its network, and BIO-key says ID Director also supports third-party fingerprint readers should they come into play as well.
For the client, the integration of biometric sign-on for all employees could dramatically improve workflow. BIO-key notes that for its client, “a single manufacturing unit may require over 30 e-signatures throughout assembly and quality assurance” – an issue that could be significantly mitigated with the ease of biometric authentication.
“What makes this use case special, but not unique, is that the customer quickly recognized the opportunity for expanded utilization of biometrics within their organization,” said BIO-key COO Barbara Rivera. “Additionally, our interoperable capabilities and commitment to support provided the trust and assurance that BIO-key would future proof their biometric security platform and protect their technology investment.”
BIO-key has not disclosed the terms of the new agreement, but given its scope the deal should help to inject momentum into BIO-key’s upward trend in revenues reported in its recent Q1 update.
