ASUS Sticks with Synaptics Sensor for New Tablet

ASUS is going to use a Synaptics Natural ID fingerprint sensor in its new flagship tablet, the ASUS Zenpad 3S 10. The tablet will feature the FS4300.

It’s the same sensor model used in ASUS’s Zenfone 3 Deluxe and Zenfone 3 Ultra smartphones released earlier this year. ASUS has evidently been happy with its performance, with Mobile Computing Business Unit GM Rangoon Chang asserting that “[t]he security of Synaptics’ fingerprint authentication solution along with the convenience of not having to type passwords is a key upgrade.”

The tablet integration announcement comes hot on the heels of this week’s news that Sharp will use Synaptics’ Natural ID fingerprint sensors in its new Aquos smartphones, which itself came soon after the announcement of a TCL smartphone integration last month. Commenting on the new ASUS integration, Synaptics VP Anthony Gioeli called the company “an important customer” and suggested that his company expects more ASUS integrations for the future.
