Aratek’s latest fingerprint scanner and sensor module are now available in Latin America. The A800 scanner and A800-M module both offer FBI FAP 45 certification, and support dual fingerprint acquisition and authentication.
According to Aratek, the A800 is the most compact scanner on the market to achieve the FAP 45 distinction. The device can capture single-finger roll prints in addition to dual prints, and boasts AES-256 encryption and liveness detection to guard against spoofing. It is also resistant to dust and water thanks to an IP65 rating that allows it to function in rugged conditions.
The A800-M, meanwhile, is built with a high-quality platen that can read dirty and wet fingers, and does so without leaving fingerprint residue behind. The module can be integrated into a wide variety of connected devices, including handhelds, Point-of-Sale terminals, and ID kiosks.
Both the scanner and the module ship with an SDK that allows developers to configure the devices to meet their own specific needs. Aratek believes that the A800 line has potential applications in a number of different sectors, such as finance and law enforcement.
“We forecast the A800 and A800-M to be widely adopted in Latin America where demand for digital identity is heating up due to increased spending by governments on fintech, cybersecurity, border control and airport security,” said Aratek International Business VP Samuel Wu. “Whether enabling travelers to check into an airport or enrolling citizens into the national ID system, the A800 and A800-M will be there to power this biometrics boom.”
Aratek released its FAP 30 A700 scanner earlier this year, following a soft launch in the summer of 2020. The company has also updated its FAP 20 A600 scanner to enable biometric matching on the device itself. Like the A800, both the A700 and the A600 feature AES-256 encryption.
