Applied Recognition Joins VMware Distribution Platform

Applied Recognition‘s facial recognition technology could reach a range of new clients thanks to its newly-announced integration into VMware’s Technology Alliance Partner Program, or TAP.

TAP is essentially a distribution platform offered by VMware to help its partners’ solutions reach its network of clients, which extends to over 500,000 worldwide, VMware says. Now, the program is supporting Ver-ID Authenticator, Applied Recognition’s facial recognition technology for the desktop.

That essentially means that client businesses using VMware’s services will be able to replace their employees’ computer passwords with face scans, thanks to Applied Recognition’s biometric technology. When logging into a given desktop, a registered user would need only to take a selfie on Applied Recognition’s Ver-ID mobile app to gain access.

In a statement announcing the integration, Applied Recognition Co-CEO Don Waugh explained that his firm has “made a substantial investment to ensure that Ver-ID Authenticator is able to work flawlessly with thin and zero clients, a technology domain where interoperability with VMware is, of course, critical.” Waugh added that both Applied recognition and its own channel partners “are now looking forward to accelerated deployments of Ver-ID Authenticator at organizations that rely on VMware’s desktop virtualization products.”
