Anviz Unveils Biometric Temperature Screening Platform

Anviz is looking beyond fingerprint recognition with the release of new face and temperature recognition solutions that were designed for a COVID-19 environment. FaceDeep 5 and FaceDeep 5 IRT address the growing need for contactless access control and health screening at private and public-facing venues like offices, medical facilities, and retail outlets.

Once installed, FaceDeep 5 will function much like any other face-based security solution. Employees will be able to gain access to secure areas once their identity has been verified, and they will be able to do so without needing to make direct physical contact with a shared terminal. FaceDeep 5 will also record the time and create a log of entry events.

The system runs on the BioNano facial recognition algorithm, and is built with dual IR and VIS facial recognition cameras. It comes with 125Khz and 13.56Mhz RFID capabilities, with access managed either on-device or with the CrossChex Software application.

The expanded FaceDeep 5 IRT, meanwhile, adds an infrared camera that is able to take someone’s temperature in less than a second at a distance of 3.2 feet. The system is able to determine whether or not someone is wearing a mask, and can be configured to send an alert (and to bar access) whenever it spots someone who is running a fever or who is not following public safety guidelines.

FaceDeep 5 can be mounted in one of several different stands or terminals, depending on the needs of a particular venue. The platform is IP65 rated for use in outdoor settings, while Anviz itself is working on a cloud-based mobile device management solution.

“The demand for our surface wall and desktop model was clear from the start, but as we started to see increased interest from commercial buildings, we needed a variety of durable stands to increase adaptability and use in high-traffic areas,” said Anviz’s Director for North America.

While Anviz is best known for fingerprint-based security solutions, the company is clearly trying to pivot in response to COVID-19. It is now one of several biometric providers that has introduced some form of temperature and/or mask detection since the start of the pandemic, standing alongside companies like VSBLTY, Paylocity, and ZKTeco.
