Alcatraz Adds Audible Alerts and Consent Controls to Facial Access Platform

Alcatraz has rolled out a set of updates to its facial biometric access-control platform, adding audible device alerts, automated firmware management, and more flexible consent controls for enterprise and regulated environments.

The update applies to the company’s Rock X system, a facial authentication device used for physical access control. The new audible alerts provide real-time audio feedback for events such as successful authentication, tailgating detection, and unauthorized entry attempts, giving administrators another signal in situations where visual prompts may be missed or where accessibility requirements apply.

Alcatraz is also adding automated firmware management to reduce the operational burden of keeping distributed access-control devices current. That change is aimed at customers managing multiple devices across offices, industrial sites, critical infrastructure locations, and other controlled facilities where manual update cycles can create delays.

The company said the release also expands consent-management options, allowing administrators to configure enrollment and authentication workflows around site policies and user preferences. That component follows the company’s emphasis on privacy controls as facial authentication moves further into mainstream biometric access control deployments.

The update comes weeks after Alcatraz closed a $50 million Series B round to scale its facial authentication business, and several months after its Rock X system completed Safe Skies operational testing at Honolulu Airport. The company has been positioning its platform for use in high-security facilities where organizations want to replace or supplement badge-based access with face-based authentication.

Alcatraz CEO Tina D’Agostin said the enhancements are meant to reduce friction while strengthening security operations. The product update is narrower than a new hardware launch, but it adds administrative and user-experience capabilities that matter in scaled physical access deployments.
