AKI to Pitch Biometric Insole Tech to US Gov’t

Autonomous_ID, the creator a biometric sensor solution designed to be worn as a footwear insole, has teamed up with Akhiok-Kaguyak Inc. (AKI) to market the solution to the US government. It’s a cross-border partnership. Autonomous_ID is based in Ottawa, while AKI is an Alaska Native Corporation.

The companies will primarily market BIO_SOLE as an authentication solution, with Autonomous_ID claiming that within three steps it can identify a user with 99 percent accuracy thanks to gait analytics and other factors. But the solution offers other applications as well, with the companies asserting in a press release that BIO_SOLE also offers “potential medical uses, such as identifying the onset of diseases like diabetes and Parkinson’s.”

Elaborating on AKI’s interest, the company’s CEO Michael Bradshaw enthused, “Not only do we know location, we can observe individual bio-stats in real time, providing enhanced situational awareness to allow for corrective actions.” Bradshaw added that “BIO_SOLE is suitable for the most sensitive controlled-access applications.”

The company’s will be making their pitch for BIO_SOLE at a time when US government agencies have displayed growing interest in next-level authentication technologies. And while agencies like the Department of Homeland Security do a lot of research in-house, there are always big potential contracts to be won by promising private sector firms.
